A model release ensures that recognizable individuals (image or voice) depicted in a video clip have given permission for the clip to be used for commercial purposes. Many of our contributors have chosen to provide us with a model release for their content, which will be indicated in the "Details" section on the content page. If the content has not been model released, it can still be used for editorial purposes.
A property release ensures that owners of property (such as a trademark or privately owned building or object) depicted in a video clip have given permission for the clip to be used for commercial purposes. We do not obtain property releases for these clips. If your project includes a clip with a trademarked logo or privately owned building, you are responsible for obtaining the release before the project is aired or screened.
We do our best to ensure that necessary releases are acquired before clips are made available in our library. If you are unsure whether a clip requires additional clearances to be used commercially, please consult with a legal entity.
